Deepika's days in Love Aaj Kal

Deepika's days in Love Aaj Kal
She's been on the rise ever since she made SRK weak in his knees in Om Shanti Om and now Deepika Padukone stars in Love Aaj Kal with Saif Ali Khan.
Here, we catch the star in an interview on her latest movie, the Kareena scandal, compliments from Saif and yes, the big kiss.

Four films old
'The journey has been wonderful. Everyone's way of acting, everyone's style of acting, everyone's approach has been wonderful. Two out of my four co-stars are also producers. Saif was very kind and polite. Somewhere the nawab in him came out because of his London education. He is a royal man and deserves everything royal.'

The Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone luck factor?
'I hope I bring the same luck to Saif Ali Khan as I did to Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om. Love Aaj Kal will go down as one of the most special films for me, irrespective of what the outcome is and what people are going to think.'

And the compliment from Saif
'It's a huge compliment from Saif if he has compared me to Rani Mukherjee. Something like this is an honour coming from Saif. In fact, I have learnt a lot from him. The fact that he is so experienced and his style is so natural makes you want to work with him again. I really look up to that kind of a performance. I've been a big fan of his right from Dil Chahta Hai.'

The co-stars?
'I don't feel any age difference. In fact, I feel secure with my co-stars who are so experienced. It's great for someone like me who is so new and has absolutely no background from this industry. All my co-stars have been giving and supportive and that in turn has a tremendous role in the way I perform on screen.'

Nudity question offends Kareena

Kareena Kapoor is known for her catfights, but not much has been said about her temper. Delhi recently witnessed Kareena's angry side while she was here to promote her upcoming film Kambakkht Ishq. The issue at hand: nudity.

Kareena appeared in good spirits when the press conference began, and was answering questions patiently and with smiles

Kareena even told the media that she is not prepared to do movies that require her to wear a bikini, as it offends her mother.

Following her bikini statement, Kareena said, ''I am open to any kind of film whether it is Jab We Met, Omkara, Dev, Golmaal Returns or Kambakkht Ishq... because all my films are different and if the script and the film demands anything - I am such an actress that I'd do anything for both the script and the film.''

Since Kareena said she'd be willing to do anything a scene requires of her, a journalist asked her if she'd be willing to do nude scenes.

The question of nudity hit some raw nerve and irritated Kareena so much that she stormed out of the press conference without another word.

India at Cannes 2009

There may not be any Indian film showing at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, but that does not mean that India will be completely absent from all the excitement. Check out the Indian stars who will be at the 62nd Festival du Cannes.
It goes without saying that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be at the most prestigious film festival.

However, Ash has got a demotion of sorts this year, as she isn't going as a jury member or as an actress of one of the films being screened. This time around, Ash is going merely as the brand ambassador for L'Oreal.

Ash might not be on the jury at Cannes this year, but yesteryear's actress Sharmila Tagore certainly is.

Tagore is on the Competition Jury, which is nine members strong and is presided by French actress Isabelle Huppert.

Other members include, Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan who won the Best Director award last year for Three Monkeys, Hollywood actress Robin Wright Penn, and British writer Hanif Quereshi among others.

Among the Cannes-newcomers, there is actress Kareena Kapoor, who is going to promote her upcoming film Kambakkht Ishq.

Kambakkht Ishq might be among those big budget films that might actually be hit by the producers' strike against multiplex owners.

If Kareena is there to promote Kambakkht Ishq, it is only natural that even Akshay Kumar should be.

Akshay, who is currently dealing with recession blues and huge fees cuts, is worried about the fate of this film, since it is scheduled for a May release, and the on-going strike might hurt its chances.

And this is a crucial time for Akshay, who has given three straight super-flops — Chandni Chowk to China, Jumbo and Tasveer 8X10, and needs a hit most desperately before his recently bestowed 'king' title is taken away from him.

Hrithik Roshan, the actor currently making headlines for his allegedly rocky marriage, is also set to make his Cannes debut this year.

The 2008-09 Filmfare Best Actor award winner will be present at the festival to promote his much-hyped film Kites.

To add fuel to fire, the bane of Hrithik's life at the moment, Barbara Mori, his co-star in Kites, will also accompany him to Cannes.

Hrithik has been in the news lately solely because of his relationship with Mori.

Reports claim that his wife Suzanne gave Hrithik and ultimatum and left their home because of his closeness to the Latino actress.

Reports also said that Hrithik's father is displeased with this relationship, and this has lead to some tension between the father and son.

Rakesh Roshan, however, told a leading daily that contrary to reports, Hrithik has not called Barbara Mori back from Mexico because of the swine-flu scare

Aamir to act opposite Kate Winslet?

We've seen Aamir Khan in many disguises - as a colonised villager, as an injured lover, a man with short-term memory loss and of course as a dyslexic teacher. Now, we can brace ourselves for Aamir's next avatar - a madman.

Reports claim that Aamir may now be seen in a film directed by Pan Nalin who previously made Valley of Flowers. The film is based on S'aadat Hassan Manto's famous short story Toba Tek Singh.

While Aamir has been roped in to play the title role of Toba Tek Singh, Nalin has approached Oscar-winner Kate Winslet to play Dr. Sophie.

The director says he is in conversation with Aamir and Kate, but he is yet to finalise them. In case Winslet doesn't agree, Nalin will approach Oscar-winner Rachel Wiesz for the role.Nalin says he will finalise the cast after he returns from the Cannes Film Festival.
